Simple Knitted Toy Dog: Pupster Pattern

February 14th 2015

I knitted this little puppy from a pattern I found on Pinterest. It’s called Pupster, was created by FuzzyMitten.com and can be purchased on Ravelry.
It was a really quick and simple pattern to follow. I decided to embroider the eyes open as I made it as a gift for a new baby. The original pattern has instructions for a jumper but I decided instead to give him a green scarf to keep him warm which was simply a length knitted in sticking stitch. I also decided to make him all one colour apart from his snout. The original pattern has instructions to have different colour patches on his hands, feet and tail also. Due to the simplicity of the pattern it was easy to make this change so not only is it a good pattern to follow but also a versatile one.

Framed Origami Butterflies

February 7th 2015

image

I made these framed origami butterflies for a friend’s birthday. It features two origami designs from Michael Lafosse’s Origami Butterflies. It’s a lovely book with simple to follow instructions. I stuck the butterflies to some patterned card with sticky foam squares so they sat firmly against the card. I used doubled up squares behind the wings to support them and to prevent the butterflies from tilting backwards. I finally mounted the card into a deep box frame.

I made quite a few butterflies with various patterned paper and chose the best ones to go in the frame. Since I had some left I used one to make this simple birthday card.

New Year New Stamp

January 3rd 2015

Happy New Year.

It’s been quite a busy 2014 but I have been keeping up the crafting I just haven’t had the time to sit and blog. Mostly due to being busy in my new home which needs a lot of work so the DIY has taken over. But I’ve been collecting all my pics and should have a whole host of things to blog soon.

But to start the year with a smile my lovely husband gave me this custsom made stamp for Christmas and it’s first use was on this card to say thank you. So now I can stamp all my creations with my MadeBySair.co.uk logo. :)

♦ My birthday ♦

February 23rd 2013

It was my birthday this month and my family know me well. I got a good stock of crafting gifts. Some new gel stamps, a card puncher in the shape of a flower and a button factory which I’m very excited to make use of in my crafts. Also I got a ‘Raffy’ vinyl toy. These are fun do-It-yourself toys by kid robot. The sharpie pens are great for decorating them and theres a whole community out there doing it.

This is the second one I have been given. My first on is in the design phase and I’ll post about it when I’m done. But I have an inspiration board on my pinterest.   (munny inspiration board)

Pin cushion

January 26th 2013

This is a little pin cushion I made for my sister’s birthday in 2011. It was made from a scrap of flower print fabric I had. It was a small square of fabric which I sewed around the edges to gather it together at the bottom then filled tightly with stuffing. I then added a patch at the bottom and over stitched for a neat finish. I then added some little embellishments that can be seen in the picture.

I always like to keep scraps of fabric rather than throwing them away as they are great for little things like this or for small embellishments. They could also be used for fabric buttons. I also keep ribbons, buttons and other little charms etc.
